If I am open to the possibilities
My growth will be exponential
Have you ever read the parable, “The Elephant and the Rope”?
One day, the circus had come to town and a man stopped by to see a group of elephants. The man noticed something very peculiar; these massive animals were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. It was obvious to him that the elephants could easily break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
The curious man saw a trainer nearby and asked why the elephants made no attempt to escape. The trainer replied, "Well, when they're young and much smaller, we use the rope to tie them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe the same rope will keep them tethered. They are convinced, the rope will always hold them." The man was amazed.
Oftentimes, we are like the roped elephants in this story…we live a life of unfulfilled aspirations because of our tethered belief system. We convince ourselves we have no other options and we remain trapped.
For instance, have you ever entertained the idea of becoming a writer, an interior designer, or an entrepreneur? Do you have a passion for music and hope to perform in a community orchestra? Are you hoping to complete a triathlon? Lofty goals, yes! but...you are worth it! I say write the book, design the room, start the business, audition for the orchestra, and prepare for the triathlon!
No matter the goal, now is the time to break free from the ties that bind you and open your mind to the possibilities. Your growth will be exponential!
